Members of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), including the UK Chamber, have agreed to set new objectives in reducing shipping carbon dioxide emissions. The objectives aim to match the ambition of the Paris Agreement on climate change, while keeping emissions reduction in the hands of the shipping industry itself.
Money will begin to be paid out from the UK Apprenticeship Levy this month. Early signs show that the scheme has already encouraged some maritime businesses to take on more apprentices.
