Join us as we see off the eXXpedition sailboat!
eXXpedition is a series of all women voyages to make the unseen seen, from the toxics in our bodies to the plastics in our seas.
Courtesy of City Cruises, who have given us the use of Valulla, we invite you to join us on a boat trip on the Thames.
Date: Saturday 2 September, 10am – 1pm
Itinerary: Leaving Tower Pier at 10am sharp, we cruise downstream to Greenwich and, depending on the tide, go as far as the Thames Barrier then upstream to Westminster, returning to Tower Pier at 1pm. We will follow SV Sea Dragon during the third leg of eXXpedition Round Britain, which is sailing round the British Isles sampling the waters for plastics and toxics.
Talks: There will be talks on Thames ecology and archaeology from marine and estuarine scientist Amy Pryor, aquatic consultant Steve Colclough and Thames archaeologist Dr Michael Webber.
The Thames Estuary Partnership, together with filmmaker Dorothy Leiper, are co-producing a 60-min documentary, The Living Thames. All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the post-production costs of the film, including sound design, music and colour grading.
Introduced by Sir David Attenborough and presented by TEP’s president Chris Baines, the film is an odyssey along the Thames as it meanders through London and flows out to sea, exploring its ever-changing ecology.
There will also be a bar on board if you fancy a tipple!
