Water quality -Your Tidal Thames

The Your Tidal Thames (YTT) project is a joint project between Thames21 and Thames Estuary Partnership (TEP), Thames Strategy Kew to Chelsea and Thames Landscape Strategy based on a community approach to river management. The project is the only catchment pilot on a tidal river in the UK, which for the River Thames extends from Teddington Lock near Richmond-upon-Thames downstream to Haven Point on the north bank of the Thames Estuary in Essex and Warden Point on the south bank in Kent.

The Your Tidal Thames project was developed in 2012, by DEFRA  in partnership with the Thames Estuary Partnership and Thames 21 as part of a catchment-based approach (CaBA) which means working with local communities and organisations who play a role in the health of England’s water environments. 25 key river catchments across England formed part of the pilot. Your Tidal Thames not only delivers the the Water Framework Directive but also raises awareness of improving water quality and associated EU legislation.
